Space for All 2026, organized by MacroEdtech from August 15 to August 30, 2026, featured a Data Analysis Challenge to encourage young students, researchers, and space enthusiasts to work with authentic data from Indian space missions. Participants used scientific datasets available through the Indian Space Science Data Centre (ISSDC), ISRO, Government of India, and explored how real mission data can be processed, analyzed, and interpreted to develop meaningful scientific insights.
Padmakshi, Young Founder of Aeronova Labs, analyzed real Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) data recorded by the Fluxgate Magnetometer (MAG) aboard ISRO’s Aditya-L1 spacecraft near the Sun–Earth L1 point. Using Level-2, 10-second averaged data from 3 August 2026, she analyzed the Bx, By, and Bz magnetic-field components in the GSE frame and calculated the total field magnitude, |B|. Her study found that |B| varied from 3.28 nT to 19.07 nT, with a mean of 13.53 nT, revealing significant variations throughout the day. With all 8,640 observations marked valid, her analysis identified a distinct pattern of high magnetic-field values, a midday trough, and evening recovery, demonstrating how a single day of Aditya-L1 data can reveal meaningful structure in the interplanetary magnetic field.
Roshani, Young Founder of Aeronova Labs, worked with the Chandrayaan-1 Lunar Laser Ranging Instrument (LLRI) Level-1R dataset archived at ISSDC. Her study processed more than 3.8 million laser-range measurements collected between November 2008 and May 2009. After performing data cleaning and quality checks, including handling no-data values, selecting reliable range channels, and identifying an archive-product artifact, she analyzed the resulting lunar terrain elevations. Her work reproduced major large-scale lunar topographic features, including the South Pole–Aitken depression and equatorial highland belt, directly from LLRI measurements. These studies demonstrate the value of India’s space-science data archives and the potential for young researchers to conduct meaningful independent research using real mission data.
